About Cincinnati Clockworks

A small workshop with a long memory.

Our Story

Cincinnati Clockworks began as a tiny bench in the corner of a hardware store on the west side in the late 1920s. Local families brought in mantel clocks, schoolhouse regulators, and the occasional battered pocket watch.

As the city grew upward and outward, our workbench quietly followed, moving into a dedicated workshop space that still hums with the sound of ticking movements and soft brass chimes.

Time through upheaval

  • 1925 – First repair bench opens.
  • 1942 – Wartime blackouts lead to a surge of mechanical clock repairs.
  • 1969 – The workshop begins keeping a log of “impossible” time slips on certain clocks.
  • 2000 – Y2K fears bring a wave of preemptive servicing.
  • 2037 – Entry in the ledger lists “unspecified anomaly – resolution pending.” (Date corrected by hand back to 2017.)

Some entries in the old ledgers were adjusted manually when the dates “didn't line up.” The original ink is still visible beneath the correction.

What we believe

Clocks are more than machines; they’re agreements. Every repair is a promise that your seconds, minutes, and hours will behave the way you expect… at least most of the time.
